Dinosaur Land National Monument
Travel
We left Teton National Park around 1100. After walks with the dogs, stopping at the visitor center and a quick trek to Signal Mountain for cookies(fail). We hustled down to Flaming Gorge. The drive was quick. Only 94 miles, we stopped at Wind River Brewing for lunch. The food was good and the beer was OK. I didn’t get anything to go. We stopped here last year and reminisced about Thanksgiving plans remembering that family asked us to host the holiday last year. I distinctly remember sitting in the truck and having a family conference call. Fun times, funny enough, we got word again that Thanksgiving needed to be discussed. I really like cooking for family events, the challenge is we live in Santa Monica and most of our family is in Arizona. We have enough room to host everybody and I love how our house feels when we have people over.
RV Park
Dutch John Resort at Flaming Gorge. The RV Park was also OK, they are trying. They had a onsite restaurant which was busy, we ordered pizza and it was surprisingly good. The grounds show initiative, with a lack of follow through. In other words, the RV park has many projects happening, however only a few of them are done. Our spot was excellent for the one night we stayed. Good dog walking, a fun “country store”, which was a cross between a tackle shop, grocery, and hardware store. The staff was awesome and it seemed like many regulars were milling around being consumers.
Flaming Gorge Dam
The Flaming Gorge Dam is impressive. The fly fishing and rafting seems to be the main pull. The Dam provides ~135 miles of shoreline, ~91 miles of water storage, power generation, and flood controls.
Dinosaur Land National Monument
Dinosaur Land was a great stop, sadly it was a little warm to leave the dogs in the trailer/truck, we did not take a hike, we did visit the quarry where ~1500 dinosaur fossils are exposed on a cliff face. Walking through quarry was interesting and reading the history of the discovery, excavation, and marketing to enable park service funding. The geology of the area is fun to look at and I look forward to visiting again when we can hike and cycle the area.

Minny and Doowee are doing well, Doowee doesn’t love the long travel days in the truck but he is a trooper.
