Heading to Minot | Airstream International Rally
Peggy Sues
Peggy Sue’s is a frequent stop for us if we are traveling on Interstate 15. It is a few hours from our house and it’s likely we can make arrive here and grab a few hours sleep. The start of this trip was no exception. We left Santa Monica very late on August 14th at 0105. Total drive time was 2.5 hours to cover 139 miles. I was at my limit when we pulled in to Peggy Sue’s I would not have been happy traveling any further.Peggy Sue’s

Beaver, Utah
Our next stop was in Beaver, Utah. We stayed at a Harvest Host: “Canyon Breeze Golf Course”.Canyon Breeze Golf Course

The golf course had access to excellent walking paths, we got out on the trails and had a good time with the dogs. I was heavily fatigued from the full day drive with minimal sleep. Total travel time was ~10 hours, we travelled 369 miles. Grabbed a beer after a full days work (driving), made dinner and went straight to bed.

Best Coffee in Beaver Utah
Best coffee

It appears as if my instagram post tricked an algo at Meta. I posted the above picture to instagram, it’s our Airstream. The post had the caption “Best Coffee in Beaver Utah” Donna was in the trailer searching online for breakfast, the local establishments she was reviewing were Facebook pages. When she clicked on the establishment she was taken to my instagram post repeatedly, for more then one establishment. I assume a process looked at my image, categorized it as breakfast food due to “best Coffee” and a picture of an airstream. IE: thinking some new pop-up breakfast spot was at the golf course in a airstream. In short, facebook would not allow Donna to gain any info on other establishment because she was near the best coffee place in a airstream at the golf course. This is pure speculation, I have no idea if any statement above if close to reality, it was interesting that my post hijacked her feed and information she was trying to gather.

Is this abuse/misuse? Filling 500+ gallons of water at the gas station
Travelling in a RV we have become accustomed to services that are free. One of the free services we recognize and use is the free dump and water fill at Mavericks in Utah. Here we see a local, using the RV water fill to acquire hundreds of gallons of water for free. I feel that this is overuse as behavior like this will certainly make the water fill service harder for their intended uses. Who knows, he might have an agreemnt with the fuel station that he pays them for water fills, if so, great. However, in my opinion he was being suspicious and defensive when I got near him and taking a photo piqued his suspicious state. Misuse?

Exit 108. The Extremist Potato:
For years we have purchased a case of potatoes from a honor stand at exit 108. One year, we meet the owner. It turns out he is an extremist, So now we refer to the stand as “The Extremist Potato”. Randomly one year we were looking for a RV spot. Turns out North Bingham Country park is an awesome little RV park that happens to be less then 2 miles from the extremist potato. This was our second year staying at the country park, and I look forward to staying again. We did not need a whole case of potatoes this year, sadly we didn’t support The Extremist Potato.
About 30 miles more we could have gone back to Jefferson County Lake. We pondered the decision, and will keep it in mind for the years we don’t need extremist potatoes.

West Yellowstone Madison Campground
The Trek from Shelly Utah to Yellowstone was quick, 84 miles with 3.5 hours of travel time. Donna says that arriving at Yellowstone gives her a warm feeling. I tend to agree, Yellowstone is an amazing National Park and I am always excited to visit. Often Yellowstone is a destination for us, so a certain amount of relief exists knowing that long drive days are behind us.
We camped at Madison campground then went for a bike ride to Grand Prismatic. The trail to Grand Prismatic is an old rail line. The gravel was smooth and Donna proclaimed it was the approiate skill level trail for her. The rain made an appearance (first time on this trip). Is’s alwasy enjoyable to hear the rains against the Airstream.
