The Oregon Coast

Where we camped
Honey Bear RV Park
Honey Bear by the Sea RV Park This RV park is amazing.List of the amazing things
Dog park
I have never been in a better dog park. The park was large, lush, had a dedicated dog wash, and pond. The dog park was extremely well maintained with many routes to run and play. The dogs were also impressed as they immediately start romping, running, playing, and generally enjoying the open space. I have never seen our two dogs react so positively to an open space.
Trail to beach The park had a path to the beach. It was a beautiful walk and we were able to see sailors of the sea, I have never seen these creatures and it was a beautiful site seeing them on the beach by the millions.

Site Our site was great, large spaces that were open and had good access. The facility was cool, it had many walking paths, forested areas, and paths to explore.

Access to/from the 101
Access from the freeway was easy. We did go to town to have dinner and I enjoyed a bike ride to Gold Beach. I was also enamored with the bridge, which is a memorial to Issac Lee Patterson for his influence in making the 101 and the Oregon coast what it is.Awesome kind helpful people Donna loves to research where we are going to stay, much time is spent in reading reviews, reviewing websites, which eventually leads to verbal contact. The Honey Bear Website reads in such a sweet manner, it enticed us to dig deeper. Donna called, talked to the people and we were impressed with how nice they were. We would go back here for many reasons. If you are touring the Oregon coast, we highly recommend the park.
Winchester Bay RV Resort
Decent walking, the industry here is focused on the Marina. The location provides a good base to visit many Oregon Coast sites. We would stay here again. The Marina was walk able and we had good fried fish.Cannon Beach
Great little park, limited starlink access (many large trees), great walking to the haystacks and the town. We had dinner at a brewery (Pelican Brewing) which wasn’t great. Many dog friendly establishments, we enjoyed walking around the town. The bakery had the best maple bar, 10 out of 10. I would stop in Cannon just for the bakery.Coo’s Bay
As we were approaching Coo’s bay tire monitoring alerted to the rear passenger tire having lower pressure then other tires. I have always used Discount Tire for service, however the nearest Discount was 60+ miles from our location. We found a Les Schwab, pulled in, asked a tech if they could fix. 20 minutes later we were leaving with the tire fixed. The Les Schwab tire center was awesome, I did not want them to jack the trailer up and showed them how to raise a wheel on a dual axle trailer without using a hydraulic jack. As you likely know, jacking the airstream is a risky procedure. Great care must be taken to prevent damage. With a single wheel needing service it was fasted, easiest, and decreased risk by driving up on “blocks”. Pictures below. Big thanks to Les Schwab of Coo’s Bay for being willing to abide by my direction and suggestions on how to work on my trailer.
Thor’s Well
Thor’s well is impressive. We parked at the Cape Perpetua visitor center, the facility was closed. The parking was easy and the “hike” down to Thor’s well was beautiful. My first impression of the beach: Raw Power: As we walked down the stairs the thunderous rumble of the waves concussing against the basalt is impressive. The constant changing roar of low frequency “booms” is astonishing. We arrived about an hour prior to high tide (pure luck). I was surprised at many tourist standing at the opening of Thor’s well. Especially as they could also feel, hear, and see the pure power of the sea. We walked out on the basalt, however I was not willing to approach the well.
