Hoh Rainforest, Olympic National Park

Forks, Washington
Forks is the setting for the Twilight book series. As it was explained to me, the author needed a place lacking sunlight for the vampire series, a google search indicated Forks was the rainiest place in the United States. Since rainy places are often overcast, vampires in the book choose to live in Forks. The city leans into the fame that the books series has brought it. Many locations have banners referencing the books.
Donna and I were here to visit the Hoh rain forest, which was amazing.

- Hall of Mosses
This hike was mind bending. I have never seen so much vibrant life, the sun was shining most of our hike. I was amazed by the different colors and growth. Every turn seemed to be this perfect view of moss, trees, and Water. It’s like somebody was paid millions of dollars per square foot to design a living landscape.

Where we camped
The access to the forest and the park was simple, good parking was available at the visitor center. Sadly the visitor center was not open due to funding cuts. The campground was nice with a few loops. Starlink would’ve been a possibility in the park at a few of the sites. We didn’t want to risk having no connectivity so we stayed a few miles outside the park at the Hard Rain Cafe. The campground had the services we needed, was easy to get into. We found this campground from a recommendation of a fellow Airstreamer. We had stopped for fuel in forks, a man at another pump was wide-eyeing us. I said “Hi”, he explained he was interested in our setup as he had an Airstream also and was here visiting from Minnesota. We got to chatting and he suggested we checkout the campground where they were staying (Hard Rain Cafe). After a quick search we realized the encounter was serendipitous, we had just given up staying in Forks (campground office was closed). The encounter put us exactly where we wanted and needed to be. Chance meetings like this are some of my favorite things.Olympic Coast National Marine Sanctuary (Ruby Beach)
We visited the Olympic coast. The beach was interesting: Large rocks and drift wood were the primary make-up of the beach. Additionally the drift wood made it fun to walk along the beach, finding our entry and exit points to the beach were fun as path traversal were disrupted it.

Penelope
The campsite had good access to a couple of trails with access to a wonderful river. Penelope spent time looking in logs for critters.

Doowee DooWee would have preferred less rain.
