Santa Fe

Holbrook to Santa Fe was ~288 Miles Stopped a few times, once for BBQ at junkyard 66 brewery.

Then the El Malpais visitor center to learn about Lava tubes and their caves. We will need to come back here for cycling and exploring.

Junkyard 66 Brewery : Brisket Sammie and plenty of parking for Olive and Yo-yo.
fun place

Staying at the Santa Fe Skies RV Park. This park was fun, we loved the location, walking paths, and art throughout the park.

Location

Santa Fe was a fun place, we ate out a lot, which is not our norm. Many places to try, lots of chili to eat and beer to try.

We discovered sopapillas, these yummy things are fried bread served with honey and butter. Just the right amount of crunch and dough.

Donna dug around on reddit for local places. She suggested we go to El Comal Restaurant. This spot was lovely, standard strip mall location, nothing fancy, the food was top notch. I had adovada which had hominy, red chili, beans, and tortillas. I was impressed with the chili flavors and service. The people at this restaurant could not have been nicer.

Farmers market.
We had read that the Santa Fe farmers market was on of the best. Not sure the source of the info, upon arrival I was expecting more. However after spending an hour walking around we found excellent vegetables and greens along with interesting nick-nacks. We left happy and with a few bags of nice lettuces, carrots, peas, and eggs.

From the farmers market we were on the search for coffee.

Coffee

We visited two local coffee roasters. Iconik and Ohori’s. I was not impressed with either(Sadly).

As a general rule I am put off by interactions with baristas that are confused why I would want an espresso. I should take these conversations as a key indicator that they have not honed the craft of making coffee. However, I am often convinced by the expensive equipment around them that everything will be ok.

I did buy some beans from Ohori’s, I have tried a few different way to enjoy them including Lance Hedricks recipe

.

Which did not really help any hint of the ethiopia flavor profile come out. All in all I was not impressed.

Rowley Farmhouse Ales had an interesting selection of beers. We had a nice time here, I tried a few beers that I was impressed with. The biscuit chicken sandwich was OK. Meh

We had a great site at the RV park, we were on a overlook hill with nice views. Overlook

We were around many other airstreams at this park. The most we have seen outside going to rallies. I took pictures of most of them and talked to a few other owners.
