New Orleans, Louisiana. Rolling to the Big Easy

New Orleans
We traveled from Breaux Bridge to New Orleans in a short couple hour trip. We stopped off in LSU to get some coffee and fast food. The homes around LSU are beautiful, if it wasn’t for the weather in LA, Donna and I would consider living here.
This was a tough day, we left Breaux Bridge in the early afternoon, Minny had just passed, the whole ride was somber. All members of our little pack were in a state of constant shock without Minny in her normal places. One of Minny’s favorite things was to watch out the window (open or closed). I would often catch her leaning against the back seat gazing out the window watching the landscape pass. I would try to gauge what she liked to look at, was it the forest, the desert, the plains. What was the landscape that she spent most of the time looking at? It was very hard for me to look back and realize she wasn’t watching out the window. Not having Minny is a stark reminder that our time loved ones is limited.
The weather was yucky until the tornado warning. Then everything changed, the air was cool, skies clear, breeze enjoyable. The following couple of days had the locals out soaking up the good weather. Nearly everybody we saw, was consistently exclaiming how perfect the weather was. I agree, the weather was nice. So nice that Donna and I decided to stay in New Orleans for a extra week.
Our final stop on the caravan is the New Orleans Marina RV Park. We were warned that first impressions would be negative. The first impression didn’t disappoint, we drove through would could easily be called a wasteland. Dumped appliances, tires, furniture, and pot holes so large navigating around them was a requirement. The Park was nice, well maintained, on site bar/restaurant. The trek into New Orleans was a hindrance. We decided after a few days of driving/parking or uber into New Orleans it would be cheaper to stay in the city. Each trip to the french quarter was costing between 60-80 dollars.
Caravan Planned Events
The caravan planners did an awesome job. It is clear Peter, Carol, Brian, and Nancy had thought through every detail. The whole caravan was a pleasure. The people were great, the activities awesome, travel days easy. The group of leaders made our first caravan experience an enjoyable one.
Creole Queen River Boat
We took the historical tour
Here is another example of an event Donna and I would have never done. The boat ride was a historical tour covering the battle of 1812 and the impact of Katrina on New Orleans.
Private showing at Preservation Hall
Preservation Hall is an awesome venue that is focused on Jazz. If I lived in New Orleans, this would be a weekly spot. We had a great time listening to Jazz and talking to the musicians.
Court of Two Sisters
A famous restaurant in New Orleans. One of the must stop places. We were eating as a large group, the choices limited however the execution was good. I was not disappointed.
New Orleans cooking school
Learn to make Gumbo
I really liked the cooking school. I learned the basics of gumbo, I look forward to making gumbo at home.
Antoines Restaurant
A famous restaurant in New Orleans. One of the must stop places. Another group dinner, choices limited but the food and service was good.
Coffee
Hey! Coffee
Good espresso, also cycling group rides meet here. I liked the coffee, bought whole beans, and enjoyed espresso. I went here on multiple occasions. Each time was good.
Congregation Coffee
We took the ferry across the Mississippi to Algiers point. The coffee and breakfast were good.

Doowee
Dowee is not 100% himself. I am sure he is missing his sister and trying to figure out the recent changes to our pack.
