Where we stayed

Leaving New Orleans was bittersweet. I feel like Donna and I would have been happy staying in the city for another month. We needed to stop in Breaux Bridge to pick up Minnie. We spent the night at a Harvest Host. Maison Stephanie is a bed and breakfast that clearly excels as a large event space. The grounds were beautiful and the people were incredible.

The Travel day

The travel day was easy sub 160 miles. The roads in Louisiana are rough. Although we were treated to many great views of swamps and bayous, the rough road, a few meetings throughout, and a stop for our best Po’boy yet. We had a total travel time of ~7 hours.

Mason Stephanie

Mason Stephanie provided much room to explore, we walked the property interacted with the equine, gardner, bunnies, and felines. Doowee had a good time meeting the horses, I am not sure he likes how they smell.

Breakfast at Mason Stephanie

Since we utilized our Harvest Host membership to stay at the property we elected to have breakfast with the hosts. If you don’t know me that well, I am particular, more so when it comes to eggs/breakfast. I had trepidation about eating breakfast out, especially when I could just make my own in the trailer. I was impressed by breakfast, we were invited into the kitchen through the back door, the kitchen layout, ingredients visible and equipment impressed me, The proprietor was the chef and he knows how to cook eggs. I left happy, full of good conversation and great food.

Prejean’s

A Breaux Bridge/Lafayette has a wonderful restaurant Prejean’s. Hands down this was the best gumbo. It is rare that you run into a toursit destination that is also favoured by locals. The food here is good. What is funny, we bumbed into the other Airstream Caravan at Prejean’s having dinner. At first I thought it was our original leaders on their second tour. To bad it was not as I am sure they would have welcomed a fellow airstreamer saying hello. The group on the caravan was having their farewell dinner and from the attitude I received from saying hi, indicated they were all ready to be on their way.
