Stoner, Colorado. A trees friendly RV Park
We left Matterhorn although both of us felt we could have stayed a few more days. Discussions on the Matterhorn topic left us both feeling like we could have turned over a few more stones while there. IE: We could have rode around Trout Lake, we should have hiked the Galloping Goose trail further. At the same time we were itching to get back on the road, we needed to get laundry done, wash the dogs, refill with water and dump our tanks. We had places to go and things TODO.
Stoner RV Park
Stoner RV Park evoked emotion. We pulled in, the place is cute, the camp store is stocked full of shirts and other stoner related items. The Grocery is nice with many items to choose from and is stocked in a neat and orderly manner. The store had good selection of dry goods, drinks, and frozen items. We did not purchase anything however we were impressed at the breadth of selection. Per the Stoner Wikipedia page, Stoner is and unincorporated community with a population of 2. The Mayor and Mary Jane.
We arrived on Friday miday and the evening entertainment was posted. An acoustical guitar player (Donny Johnson) was going to play in the zocalo. The staff was very friendly (Blazed AF) and came and gave us a dozen eggs, cookies, coffee, and banana bread. I was blown away, we have never been given free eggs by a camp host. The eggs were yummy BTW. Free eggs and munchies aside, additional amenities were free laundry machines. The laundry was clean, had nice machines and even had free laundry detergent. We bring our own detergent and fabric softener, I have never seen free laundry and/or detergent at any of our travels.
Walking the grounds the evidence of a mary jane lifestyle was present. Attention to detail lacking, things/processes that had been run down and left to decay. On the flip side, everybody was mellow and nice. I even witnessed a man with a holster full of glass marijuana pipes.
The Stoner Experience.
Donna and I took a cycling trip up the 145 toward McPhee reservoir. Riding on the 145 in this area was not fun, the shoulder was small and much brush was growing into the lane. We dodged thistle and cars for a few miles before we headed North toward Dunton. Riding bikes with Donna is fun and I hope we get to continue when we return to Santa Monica. I have many trails I want her company on.
Geology can define biology, A sandstone boulder
We did a day hike to the only natural geysers in Colorado. Both dogs hike with us and the experience was rewarding. The Geysers reminded us both of Yellowstone.
We left Stoner in a bit of rush to get on our way to Durango. Doowee was sick and we were able to schedule an appointment at 1430. With a couple hour drive ahead of us we skipped normal morning routines. Driving through Dolores I stopped at a coffee shop (Lost Fox Coffee) which was fabulous. I was excited to get a good espresso and cup of coffee. Finding good espresso on the road is hard, such a delight when it happens. I wrote a google review for the shop and I hope they are doing well the next time we pass through Dolores.

Minny and Doowee
Doowee got sick again, we needed to get to the vet. A trip to Durango to visit the Riverview animal hospital was needed. This animal hospital was awesome, we had much blood work, UA, FA, and general diagnostic work done on Doowee. The Veterinarian came to conclusion that he had a UTI and prescribed a few antibiotics. Hopefully this visit knocks the sickness that he has had since we were in Helena, Mt. Minny and I enjoyed RV time with some cuddles and walks along with having yummy BBQ which was conveniently located next door to the Vet’s office.
Minny loves a good hike, even when it smells of sulphur
