The Rules
Camp for 7 days, out for 14 days. Due to the popularity. Half of the sites with full hookups are first come first served
Donna and I have been here twice before, both times in fall. We were in Colorado for two Airstream rallies and were lucky to land a reserved spot at the Matterhorn. Camping at the Matterhorn is such a pleasure, large Aspen tress, direct access to the Galloping Goose trail and Trout lake, I really feel that this place has the best of everything. I have a couple of nitpicks: The bugs in Summer are considerably more then Fall, rain is abundant this summer.
The Summer here allowed me to appreciate the Sun and the breeze. Much enjoyment was had on daily walks where the warmth from the sun was actively combated by the coolness of the breeze. Ten out of Ten on the enjoyment scale.
Returning this Fall is on our to do list.
The Rain
It rained while we were here, it rained a lot. The rain was amazing, it would open up into bright blue skies. The mountains surrounding us always indicated what type of weather we were in for. Sadly, we never saw a rainbow, which is weird, it was often sunny and raining. The walks to Trout lake were enjoyable and we would often encounter running streams on the path.
Enjoying rain is subjective, if I have not seen it, I am out admiring it, if I was recently in Seattle I am thinking of how I need to get away from it.
Services
Full Hookups, awesome camp host.
Starlink
Works perfect. Might need some elevation or strategic placement, but good coverage is available. No other coverage reaches the campground
