Thousand Trails Our Experiences

Thousand Trails our experiences

I am not privy to all the types of memberships or the costs. We use the camping pass for the Southwest and Northwest regions. I like the services and locations we have visited. We have had working services at all the parks we have visited and have left happy each time. Often feeling like we have gained more value with each use.

General notes

We always make sure we have a grey water tote when we plan to stay at TT. Not all parks and/or sites have sewer connections. Some of the best spots we have had dont have sewer connections at TT. Have enough power: We carry a generator or use DC to DC charging to make sure if the park has unfit power we still have a way to top off. Be prepared.
We also always bring a fresh water tote. Sometimes water may not work, the spigot may leak or threads stripped, or the system may have low water pressure. Be prepared to use the water from your tanks.

The parks vary in services and service availability, if prepared you won’t be frustrated. I feel that many of the negative reviews I read about TT are people who are not prepared properly.
An argument could be made: “All the services should work in a RV park!” I understand this argument and will continue to make sure I am prepared to use the free parking and available services at all TT parks.

Idylwyld Thousand Trails

What I like the most about Idylwild is the hiking/walking/trails. Our fist visit we came in at night, it was stressful as the roads in the park are narrow and the lighting low. Arrive during the day before attempting night time site acquisition.

Rancho Oso Thousand Trails

This park has great walking, bike riding, river access, and stable access. The facility is hard to get into as the road for entrance is narrow (think one-way). With narrow roads it is imperative that your arrive and depart at designate times, if not, you will have problems negotiating the road with your trailer and another.

Russian River Thousand Trails

Great access to cycling, small towns, produce, wineries, and breweries.

Bend-Sunriver Thousand Trails

Such awesome walking, cycling, and general chill space. The park has no sewer connections, bring a Grey water tote. Two dumps on site, however our visit only had one dump station open. I dumped off Grey water twice during our stay. I did not have to wait to use the dump station.

Yosemite Lakes Thousand Trails

This location is awesome. We have used it two years in a row and have spent ~2 weeks each time. As long as I am TT member and visiting Yosemite this location will be the go to.

Feburary 2023

Having the fuel station up the hill is convenient. When we first walked into to register, I thought, these northern Cali peeps like to smoke weed. The skunky smell was strong and the people were mellow. After getting setup, enjoying an afternoon hike I returned to my trailer to observe a skunk investigating all the things. I quickly realized the skunk I smelled earlier was not weed. We did not have any skunk incidents, however we were cognizant of our dogs being alone outside.

Feburary 2024

Great walking trails, good sites. The geese in Feburary 2024 were the prevalent annoyance. Did not see any skunks this year.

Leavenworth Thousand Trails

May 2024

Amazeballs. Loved this facility, big meadow between the two sides that were open when we visited in May 2024. The lake sites were shutdown. We did enjoy great walks, many trails and forest to explore. I liked this facility so much I only left for bike rides. We never went back to town.
