Window Wedge

Almost every Airstream owner has a tool to help release the windows. If it’s hot, cold, damp, or dry a type of pry-bar tool is used to open the windows from the outside.
Our go to tool has always been an old hotel room key.

I was excited to hear about a new product from airboardshop to improve the window opening process. The installation is simple and fast. Steps to complete:

  1. Order a set of Window-Jecters
  2. Clean the window bracket (I used acetone)
  3. Layout the wedge plates
  4. Remove film from 3m VHB tape and align/stick the wedge plate to the bracket
  5. Test window opening and closing. (Some adjustment might be needed)

What I get from this modification:
I no longer need to unlock the windows from the inside then go outside and pry the window open.

A few notes: I found it helpful to layout the “window wedges” prior to install. The layout should alternate the radius expansion, allowing for easy alignment when standing in front of the window.

Adjustment

Some windows will need either the left or right latch used to pressure the window into place when closing. Slight modifications can be made to the latching mechanism. Allowing the lever to move toward the wall or the window. A few box end wrenches can be used to adjust. I found it necessary to adjust 2 windows, your needs will likely vary.
