Our rock guard was stripped, how we fixed it

August 2023 fixing the airstream rock guard

Findings

Upon cleaning of Olive I noticed the rock guard bracket on the driver side was not functioning properly.
The bolt on the front of the panel was spinning freely. Upon inspection I notice the bolt and nut had pulled through.

The engineering on this bracket (most likely by accident) shows that it can be flipped over and a new hole drilled. In order to remove, I will need to drill the current rivets, clean up the adhesion points, drill the bracket, then reinstall.

Removal

Cleanup and Drill

Install new Adhesion with 3M VHB

Install new bracket upside down

Install washer on other mount points

Installed and sealed

All wrapped up

Notes

My current thinking is that the bracket needs an additional washer to keep from pulling through. I added one on each side in the middle.
