Converting AGM to LifePO4
The AGM batteries that came with Olive were not robust enough for our use.
Although stock the 200A hour rating of AGMs seems impressive, only 100A hours is usable. The first few nights boondocking, we realized that more power would be required. We opted to install Battle Born Lithium Iron Phospate batteries (LifePO4). These batteries were a drop in replacement and would double our useable power.
I ordered 2 of the BBGC2H-1KIT. The total of my order was over 2k (2022) with taxes applied.
The install was straight forward. Install a switch allowing control of the battery heater. Don’t charge the LifePO4 battery if below 32F outside. Cut and terminate old AGM post connectors. Crimp new connectors on coach power cables. Wire batteries, fuses, and switch. Adjust the converter and solar charge controller to support LifePO4 battery voltage.
