Pet Tie Off

The Need

I often tie our dogs leashes to a picnic table. Recently at a RV park, the rules stated to not tie dogs off to any park equipment, including picnic tables.

Goals

Create a tie off point on the Airstream. The tie off should not be able to cause damage if a pet that is tied to it pulled as hard as they could. For flexibility the tie off point should be on both sides of the trailer Ideally the tie off point is at the back of the trailer by the hatch Supply a second/third locking point to the trailer. I often lock bikes to the tongue.

Outcome

With this modification we get a reliable way to tie our dogs to the trailer. The tie off point is strong and provides flexibility for our needs. This modification is easy and requires a rivnut tool, a 1/2 rivnut insert and a 1/2 eyebolt (Ace hardware)

Tools

RivNut Tool
Eye Bolt

Additional Notes

On my frame rails, the holes at the rear were existing, they needed to be widened slightly to accept 1/2 rivnut. If you expose bare metal, add a few layers of paint to prevent rust.
