Stone cold killer
On many occasions I witnessed the underpinning of the Airedale in Minny, Prey driven, will do anything for the kill (including being patient). A few situations that stand out. We were walking in our Santa Monica neighborhood and some rustling in the plants, I barely noticed the noise, Minny head snapped, lunged, and murdered a pigeon. I was blown away by her lack of enthusiasm for the kill. Some Airedales will show you what they accomplished, parade around with the prize in their mouth. Minny did not care about showing off, she murdered, then left the kill behind. What else struck me as strange/tactical on her part, she did not have a classic tell that she detected something she was going to attack. Throughout her life we had to pay close attention to what she was watching, if not she would surprise us with an attack. More then once she bit other animals. She required constant supervision.
Minny was maternal
Minny’s time with us she had Two brothers. Eric and Doowee. She joined our pack with Eric then graciously allowed Doowee after Eric had passed. Eric was a easy going happy gentleman who welcomed here with zero friction. Minny dealt with Doowee in a loving manner, I never saw her get aggressive with him, mostly show would nudge him when she needed him to move. Doowee gained much comfort from Minny’s strong demeanor. Minny had fears, gunshot, fireworks, loud booms would always put her on edge. At these time she would look to Doowee for comfort and safety. Doowee and Minny had the tightest bond out of any of our Airedales.
